Mini Facelift in Annapolis, MD
Mini facelift surgery is a procedure to fix wrinkles and sagging skin on the lower half of the face, specifically the jaw. It is actually the most common type of facelift surgery performed today. Each case is tailored to each individual patient to accentuate natural features.
Benefits of a Mini Facelift
Since a mini facelift is a smaller procedure than a normal facelift, it has many benefits including:
- Short, Efficient Procedure. Unlike a normal facelift, a mini facelift can be completed in a few hours
- Limited Anesthesia. A mini facelift actually utilizes local anesthesia so that the patient can remain conscious during the procedure without feeling any pain. This limits risks and discomfort post-surgery
- Minimal Scarring. The mini facelift only uses small incisions so most scars are concealed by the contours of your face
- Easy Recovery. A mini facelift leaves very little bruising, swelling and tenderness after the procedure, as well as a shortened downtime from a normal facelift
Preparing for a Mini Facelift
It is extremely important you consult with Dr. Kleiman before making any decisions regarding facial plastic procedures. Each case is different, so they will go over your individual needs and present you with options.
It is also vital for you to make arrangements for a friend or family member to drive you to and from the clinic for the day of the surgery. Check with your surgeon for any specific restrictions before the procedure, like medications you take or foods you eat.
The Mini Facelift Procedure
The procedure focuses on the skin behind your ears to tighten the skin and tissue around your jaw. Once local anesthesia is applied, the surgeon will locate where the incisions should be, and how long they will be, which depends on the case. Your tissue will be pulled up and outward from your ear and then held in place with sutures, and any excess will be trimmed away. The whole procedure is about 2 hours.
Some patients may only take a week to return back to work and normal activities, but it can take up to several weeks for full recovery. Final results may take a year to be permanently visible. A mini facelift is an outpatient procedure, so you will go home the same day, usually with some kind of compression garment to help to heal.
You will come back to the clinic for a follow-up consultation the next day, and more follow-ups will be scheduled during that time. You must refrain from all strenuous activity during recovery.
